There will come a time in everyone’s life when we are misunderstood. I believe Mary Magdalene was misunderstood. We suppose and assume a lot of things about her but only one thing is certain. Christ healed her from her demons and she became his disciple. It was her committed discipleship that brought her to his tomb early that Easter morning and was rewarded by being among the first to see that he had indeed been raised. There is something to be said about allowing obedience (even in the worst of times) to call us to be where God is able to reveal himself to us. When we are misunderstood, as Christians can be, we have only to remember that we too are Disciples of Christ, healed by his blood and the reward we receive by following his path is our salvation and reconciliation.
John 20:11-18 But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb.
