Faithfulness And Steadfast Love
Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression of the remnant of your possession? Micah 7:18-20
I always knew when my mother was disappointed in something I had done. She completely ignored me. In time communication was restored and always at the right time. I don’t ever remember feeling like she stopped loving me, but today, as a parent myself, I better understand her pain and her frustration. Of the times when I feel God is silent I remember this about my mother. So too the prophet reminds us of this – God’s steadfast love, faithfulness and restoration.
He does not retain his anger for ever, because he delights in showing clemency.
He will again have compassion upon us; he will tread our iniquities under foot.
You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.
You will show faithfulness to Jacob and unswerving loyalty to Abraham, as you have sworn to our ancestors from the days of old.
