An Every Day Occurrence

belief…he went and begged him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Then Jesus said to him, ‘Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.’ John 4:46-54  Anxiety – a feeling of worry, nervousness or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. Generally, I don’t make New Years resolutions but this year I felt called to make a spiritual one; to let go of the anxiety. Belief and anxiety don’t co-exist well together. It’s part of the reason our life is filled with ebb and flow. For certain, things don’t always go the way we think or expect them to go. However, we have to accept that in the same way that our life decisions will put us in places we expected they also put us in places we did not expect. Additionally, we have to accept that there are things in life we can control and things we cannot control. The good news is that Christ came in to the world that we might believe (John 3:16). The hour indeed has come. We only have to wait our turn. So we can let go of the anxieties because  what appears as signs and wonders for us is an every day occurrence for God.

  1. So true. We simply have to open our eyes, the eyes of our hearts, to see them! In opening our hearts fully to Him, we receive SO MUCH MORE than we can comprehend! Who among us would look at a person reaching out to us with a wonderful gift and turn that person away? Yet, we have Christ reaching out to us and using our own free will we do turn Him away, don’t we? Awesome post and a spiritual resolution I’m also working on. I, too, do not make the annual list of resolutions . . . the other sort.

  2. I have been battling Depression, Anxiety and mood disorder for 6 years, since a car accident, and my faith has only grown from it. I wrote about why I believe this happenes to believers in a post a while back. I would love to let go of all my worries and trust peacfully in the Lord but I have found that when things are peaceful I don’t hunger and thirst for Him and when things are easy I don’t have to stretch myself and my faith to reach His hand.
