Make No Presumptions
Do not presume to say to yourselves, “We have Abraham as our ancestor” Matthew 3:7-12 I remember the times when my maternal grandmother would visit and spend time with me. Her wisdom about life seemed so profound at the time. As I think back it was far more practical and founded upon her faith in God. She’d end conversations with by saying things like “If you wash your underwear out every night, you will always have a clean pair.” As a child I just thought she was trying to make more work for me. I know now that she wasn’t just talking about underwear. As times change so does the human condition. We have our traditions, history and those who have gone before us pave our way. What they did for their time was necessary but now we too must be prepared to do the work of a risen Christ today.
