No Limits

‘I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?’ But Jesus answered him, ‘Let it be so now; for it is proper for us in this way to fulfill all righteousness.’  Matthew 3:13-17   In a physical world, it can at times seem as if God is at a distance, kind of like the Israelites who were limited to the base of Mount Sinai (Exodus 19:16-25), while Moses was the chosen one who got to ascend and draw close. Today, because of the risen Christ we are part of the New Covenant with God. As believers God has chosen us, but we perpetuate our own feeling of distance because we forget to encourage ourselves in the promises of the Gospel. God desires that we continually seek him in the good and the difficult times. Each of us has a slice of that itinerant preacher within us, not solely as a testimony for others but also that we may be a testimony for our selves. We won’t always get that physical affirmation from our human relationships. Yet know that as we do what God calls us to do and be where God calls us to be, the Lord will come to us along the journey in the same way he came to an itinerant John the Baptist. By his Word our God will reach down (Psalm 18:16) and draw us close because the limit once previously put in place has been forever removed through Christ.

  1. I am so glad that God consistently answers the prayer , “Draw me close to you.” Now I just have to remember that to be close I must also choose to draw near to Him in my heart!
