No Perpetrating

“Beware of practicing your piety before others in order to be seen by them.”  Matthew 6:1-6,16-18  It is often believed that with authority comes privilege, a special right, advantage or immunity, granted or available only to a particular person or group. We experience in our own society how others fuse so closely with their earthly authority (power to give orders, make decisions and enforce obedience) they forget God’s authority and their spiritual reverence for God’s commandment to love. I have come to understand that with authority comes responsibility. As believers our authority is in Christ who by example has shown us our responsibility to true reverence for the sake of God’s glory and not our own. It is not required to put on a show so that others can see how much we love God. God knows within the heart of his own, and already knows how much we love him. With God there is no perpetrating.
