Encourage Their Heart

Job 29:1; 31:1-23  I have made a covenant with my eyes… Is this perhaps Job’s flaw? Do we also have a tendency to see good things happen and subsequently think good things and when we see bad things happen we think bad things? It’s far more easy to attribute one’s blessings to God’s favor and misfortune to God’s punishment and discretion. I think Job successfully makes the argument that he had done nothing wrong. He would learn that it was his faithful heart that carried him through in spite of his discourses concerning his circumstance. The most faithful person I knew was my mother. She died quickly of complications from cancer. To this day I don’t understand why because like Job she didn’t deserve it. Like Job a faithful heart understands that there are times when bad things happen to good people. Who do you know with a faithful heart that may be going through some things? Pray for their strength today. Encourage their heart. Gently remind them that what they see isn’t necessarily the end of the story. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live. John 11:17-29
